Things Happen

Seldomly do we realize that “things happen, in part, because they can” and by way of their influences, and yet we can never fully and accurately predict future events. When we observe a crystal vase crashing to the floor, we intuit that it will splinter in many pieces, but we have essentially no idea how many pieces they will be; what will be their shapes; where they will land and what sort of distribution pattern will be in its wake. But to suggest or imply that there has been a reason for all this is silly, wishful thinking and hopelessly naive.

Some of us presume that everything act and tiddle that occurs is preplanned, orchestrated and set by other forces. Some suggest it be the “hand of God.” But why might you suppose that the hand of God was actively involved in the enslavement of millions of Africans; the murder of Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals and others by Nazi followers nor that God wished for the death of more than 300,000 Americans by the Covid-19 in 2020?

Because we do now know and because we cannot begin to understand—as if events were part and parcel of some divine scheme hardly means that we are missing the points when events seems spectacularly good and/or evil.

A great primer for comprehending the world is by Nobel prize winner, Percy W. Bridgeman, i.e. The Way Things Are.
